CPR for your Hair! Welcome Madison-Reed to SF!

I tried it and I loved the new Color Bar in San Francisco. I’m loving my root reboot and color refresh, from Madison-Reed’s new location in San Francisco.

I was warmly welcomed by Rachael Thomas, who is the manager and lead colorist of the Color Bar. We all know sometimes seeing a new colorist can be a little daunting, but I was immediately at ease. I could tell I was in the presence of a skilled practitioner. Rachael went thru a quick but thorough color consultation with me.  She made an expert recommendation to blend two colors to make my perfect root and color refresh toner, for the rest of my hair. I loved the rich, glossy results and the perfect multi-dimensional color. It’s been 4 days since my visit, and my blow-out from Rachael is still looking fresh! If you can’t get to SF for a session, you can buy all of the hair color products online and they have professional colorists available via email and phone for complimentary consults.

Rachael mixing up custom colors

It’s important to me that Madison-Reed is a cruelty free haircare line.  They are also at the forefront of innovation when it comes to ingredients. They are the first company to create a Smart 6-Free permanent hair color- there is no ammonia, parabens, resorcinol, PPD, phthalates or gluten. Those ingredients can be hard on your hair and really dull and damage it over time.  The color is made in Italy, where European Union standards are very strict when it comes to ingredients- so this is high quality and it really shows in the results. This Italian hand-crafted color is enriched with keratin, organ oil, and ginseng root which protects, hydrates and makes your hair healthy looking and shiny! There is a complete curated collection for your hair: Color, Protect and Revive.  It’s been 4 days since my color and blow dry and my hair is still looking salon fresh, with no wash needed yet! I will try to stretch it out for one more good hair day…gotta love a professional blow out!

I also took home some shampoo and conditioner, and a Color Reboot kit to touch up my roots in a few weeks. I will write another post about that once I use it. The color kit looks so easy to use and Madison Reed is known for quality salon color that you can do yourself at home. The sponge tip application for the roots is genius- less mess and more ease!  I’m actually looking forward to coloring my roots at home in a few weeks.

Parisian Fashion at the San Francisco Fairmont

photo-66On the evening of October 25th, 2014, the fashion elite (and little old moi!) gathered in the Grand Ballroom, at the Fairmont in San Francisco.  Smokey-eyed models strutted down the runway wearing the latest in Parisian Haute Couture. This slice of Parisian Heaven was hosted by the always elegant, Elisabeth Thieriot. Ms. Thieriot is the publisher of a fabulous fashion mag,  FSHN Magazine and creator of the ultra-luxe skincare line, Replete Seasonal Skincare. This fashion soiree featured two of the top 10 couture brands in the world, Frank Sorbier Haute Couture Paris and on aura tout vu. This was their first time showing in the United States. American designer Mimi Tran also showcased her gorgeous collection of sexy and elegant gowns. It really was a night I will long remember. Here are a few runway shots of the models (you can click on any of the photos to enlarge them – the details are beautiful!)

french singerI enjoyed this show so much and even more so, since I met a fellow bloggess!  www.beautyshallsavetheworld.com  Shannon is a talented SF Bay area writer who focuses on fashion and she has great style!

Replete Skincare donated 10% of all ticket sales from this high-fashion event to Reason to Party, an all-volunteer San Francisco non-profit that raises funds in fun ways for extraordinary local nonprofits.

Rozge LipGloss Review and a little hot spot for wine lovers in SF…

I love lipgloss, wine bars, shopping, and spending time with friends especially! This review is about a new lip gloss and a little fun I had in SF recently! Take a great pink color and throw in some antioxidants and cutting edge ingredients and you’ve got my new favorite Rozge lip gloss named Amsterdam! The lip glosses from Rozge do not disappoint in any way. They sent me a couple of great colors to review – a “hot” hot pink I kept for myself called Amsterdam which I absolutely adore either alone or over my current Bite or Lorac lip pencils to add even more little sparkle. They also sent me a warm, sparkly rich ginger shade which I immediately knew would be perfect for my gorgeous ginger-haired BFF Jodi Koskella.

The photo above was taken of us after a long but amazing day shopping in San Francisco’s Union Square – our Rozge lip gloss held up pretty well! Our 10 hour of fun girls day included a stop at Tiffany & Co, hours spent at Saks (there was a big sale going on!) and ended at a quaint Wine Bar called ENO where Jodi had a bubbly flight and I had the tastiest red vino ever from 100 year old European vines and as Jodi stated the best deviled eggs we’ve both ever had – they were topped with duck confit and a yummy grilled cheese sandwich which we pretty much devoured after all the hard work shopping. Eno has upscale wine with down-home food and warmly welcoming service- the perfect combination. I noticed while we were there that there were a few couples, small groups and several women sitting alone enjoying their wine on a beautiful SF Sunday evening watching the bustle of SF’s Union Square go by from the large street-front windows. It’s definitely a great spot to people watch. Steven, the wonderful sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and really made sure we had a great time and made fantastic recommendations. We will enjoy the wine we bought there – did I mention you can purchase the bottles you like right there on the spot!

Back to the gloss though – so Rozge has 22 lip nourishing shades so there really is something for everyone. The colors are so pretty and richly pigmented – they look good alone or over other lip color. They are very nourishing and non-toxic (very important to me!). The ingredient list is impressive with shea butter, jojoba oil, safflower oil, and aloe vera. What really intrigued me though was this ingredient called Dragons Blood! I had heard of it but didn’t know what it was and had never used it. I did some research on it and now I love this lip gloss even more. Dragons Blood is a sap that comes from a tree in the Amazon. This blood red sap is rich in antioxidant phenols, anti-inflammatory compounds and has anti-viral and antibacterial properties. It also contains proanthocyanidins which actually repair collagen and taspine, a known tissue-healing agent. This gloss feels very healing on the lips and looks great too. The packaging is very nice too as the wand lights up and the tube itself has a mirror on it! I can’t wait to try more of the Rozge shades. You can check them out here:
